Most Indian puppies come home at six to eight weeks old, and the first vet visit sets up everything that follows: vaccines, deworming, and the record you will need for years. In India, "the 45-day vaccine" usually means the first puppy vaccine given at around six weeks. Some clinics use a puppy-specific combination at this age, others give the first dose of the full combination vaccine. Other vets prefer a check at six weeks and the first core dose at seven to eight weeks.
Both approaches start within the standard window, because the protection a puppy gets from its mother's milk fades somewhere between six and sixteen weeks. Anti-rabies is not given at 45 days. It usually starts at around three months.
